Argentina will take on Morocco in the final of the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup after edging Colombia 1–0 in Thursday’s semi-final at the Estadio Nacional de Santiago.
The decisive moment came in the 74th minute, when Mateo Silvetti fired home from the centre of the box after a brilliant setup from Gianluca Prestianni. Colombia’s hopes were further dashed after a late red card left them a man short, and despite sustained pressure, they failed to find an equaliser.
The result sends Argentina to their eighth U-20 World Cup final, as they look to add to their record six titles in the competition.
Their opponents, Morocco, made history on Wednesday by reaching their first-ever U-20 World Cup final, becoming only the third African nation—after Ghana and Nigeria—to do so.
The Atlas Cubs defeated France on penalties following a thrilling 1–1 draw after 120 minutes at the Elías Figueroa Brande Stadium.
Morocco initially went ahead in the 32nd minute when Yassir Zabiri’s penalty deflected off French defender Lisandru Olmeta for an own goal. Lucas Michal levelled for France in the 59th minute, but Morocco held firm before prevailing 6–5 in the shootout, with successful spot-kicks from Younes El Bahraoui, Ilias Boumassaoudi, Yassir Zabiri, Mohamed Hamony, Saad El Haddad, and Byar.
Argentina and Morocco will meet in the championship final on Monday, October 20, while France and Colombia contest the third-place play-off on Saturday, October 18.
