Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to youth empowerment with the introduction of the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP 2.0), targeting the creation of 20,000 jobs annually. Speaking ahead of the official launch, Shettima emphasized that the initiative reflects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, designed to bridge the gap between education and employment by providing young Nigerians with work experience, mentorship, and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Highlighting the impact of the first phase, which empowered over 14,000 fellows, Shettima explained that NJFP 2.0 builds on that success by integrating lessons learned and expanding opportunities through partnerships with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the European Union (EU). The new phase aims to deploy 24,000 fellows within ten months through professional placements and enterprise development, focusing on key growth sectors including agriculture, digital technology, and manufacturing.
Vice President Shettima also inaugurated the Project Steering Committee, tasking its members with ensuring inclusivity and tangible results that reflect the government’s vision for national development. He described the programme as a strategic tool for transforming Nigeria’s youthful population into a productive economic force, adding that effective collaboration between government and development partners remains vital for sustainable progress.
