
A high-level delegation from the African Development Bank (AfDB), led by Dr. Abdul Kamara, Director General for Nigeria, met with the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday. The meeting centered on enhancing collaboration between the AfDB and the Nigerian government to promote sustainable economic growth.

During the visit, Dr. Kamara commended President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, acknowledging their significance in addressing Nigeria’s pressing economic challenges. He also conveyed the AfDB’s condolences over the recent flooding in Maiduguri, expressing the Bank’s readiness to assist in managing the aftermath of the disaster.

Key topics discussed included food security initiatives, the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) project, and other strategic engagements. These initiatives are part of a broader agenda to foster economic stability and growth in Nigeria.

Minister Wale Edun highlighted the vital role of the AfDB’s financial and technical support, particularly as Nigeria enters a critical harvest season. He noted that this support is crucial for ensuring the country’s food security and maintaining economic stability.
Key representatives from both the AfDB and the Ministry of Finance attended the meeting, including Linda Amadi, Government Relations Coordinator at AfDB, Orison M. Amu, Country Operations Manager at AfDB, George N.S, Director of International Economic Relations, and Onyoh Ajibola, Deputy Director at the Ministry of Finance.
The meeting is expected to strengthen the ongoing partnership between Nigeria and the AfDB, setting the stage for further collaboration on economic development initiatives.
