
Nigeria’s security structure has taken a new turn as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appoints a fresh team of Service Chiefs to lead the Armed Forces. Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff, is an Infantry Officer from Ekiti State with over three decades of military experience. A member of the 39th Regular Course of the NDA, he has led key counter-insurgency operations and is known for his focus on troop welfare and combat readiness.
Major General Waidi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff, from Kogi State, is a decorated officer with multiple master’s degrees and extensive operational command experience, including leadership roles in Operations HADIN KAI and LAFIYA DOLE.
Rear Admiral Idi Abbas, Chief of Naval Staff, from Kano State, has excelled in maritime security and anti-piracy operations, particularly in the Niger Delta, where he served as Flag Officer Commanding the Central Naval Command.
Air Vice Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, Chief of Air Staff, from Benue State, is a seasoned pilot with over 4,000 flying hours and leadership experience in both domestic and international air operations.
Major General Emmanuel Akomaye Parker Undiandeye, Chief of Defence Intelligence, from Cross River State, is an intelligence and counter-terrorism expert trained at elite global institutions, including Harvard and the National Defence University, USA.
President Tinubu’s appointments reflect his commitment to professionalism, merit, and effective leadership in the Armed Forces, reaffirming his Renewed Hope Agenda for a safer, more secure Nigeria.
