Ned Nwoko Calls for Anioma State Creation and Nnamdi Kanu’s Release to Restore Peace in South-East

Can peace truly return to the South-East without addressing its deep-rooted grievances? Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North, believes lasting peace in the region will remain elusive until the federal government confronts what he describes as the South-East’s long-standing sense of marginalisation. Speaking on the matter, the senator proposed the creation of Anioma State and the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), as key steps toward resolving the ongoing crisis.

According to Jocomms Reporter, Nwoko explained that successive governments have failed to address the South-East’s concerns about representation and fairness. “The problem in the South-East has to do with perceived injustice by successive governments,” he said, adding that forming a sixth state in the region would promote equity among Nigeria’s geopolitical zones. He noted that such a move, coupled with Kanu’s release, could significantly reduce tensions and foster dialogue.

Nwoko’s call comes at a time when regional agitation and security challenges continue to affect the area’s stability. As discussions around restructuring and inclusion resurface, will the government heed these proposals as a pathway to lasting peace in the South-East? Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
