President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has joined the people of Ogun State, the South West, and the entire nation in celebrating the 100th birthday of Chief (Mrs.) Lucia Onabowale Onabanjo, describing her as a symbol of grace, virtue, and resilience.

In a heartfelt tribute, the President highlighted Madam Onabanjo’s deep connection to the political and moral history of Ogun State and the Yoruba nation. As the wife of the late Chief Victor Olabisi Onabanjo, the first civilian Governor of Ogun State, President Tinubu said she shared in the sacrifices and vision that shaped one of Nigeria’s most respected legacies of service and integrity.

He praised her for being more than a political companion to her husband, describing her as a “mother of wisdom, prayer, and grace” who inspired those around her through kindness and moral strength.

The President also acknowledged her contributions as a teacher for 22 years in Lagos and Zaria, where she mentored countless children and left a lasting impact on their lives.

“Mama Onabanjo represents a generation of Nigerian women whose resilience, faith, and devotion nurtured families, anchored communities, and strengthened the moral fibre of our nation,” President Tinubu said.

He further commended her forgiving spirit toward a former military leader whose regime had imprisoned her husband, saying such grace exemplifies true greatness.

While congratulating the Onabanjo family for upholding a legacy of honour and service, the President noted that Chief (Mrs.) Onabanjo’s century of life is a reminder that greatness lies in consistent virtue and dedication to humanity.

On behalf of the government and people of Nigeria, President Tinubu prayed for continued health, peace, and joy for the centenarian and her family.
