After a difficult start to the 2025/26 campaign, Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman finally opened his goal account for Atalanta on Tuesday night, scoring in their Serie A matchday nine clash against AC Milan, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Lookman struck in the 35th minute to draw Atalanta level at 1-1 after Italian midfielder Samuele Ricci had given Milan an early lead in the fourth minute. The Nigerian forward fired a brilliant shot into the top corner after a clever pass from Mario Pašalić.

The goal came in Lookman’s seventh appearance of the season across all competitions for the Bergamo club.

The reigning African Player of the Year has endured a challenging start to the season following a fallout with Atalanta’s management over a failed summer move to Inter Milan. The 28-year-old reportedly went on strike during the transfer saga and was temporarily frozen out of the squad.

He made his return with a brief four-minute cameo in Atalanta’s 3-0 win over Torino in September before earning his first start of the season in the Champions League against Club Brugge days later.

Lookman enjoyed a standout 2024/25 campaign, netting 15 goals and providing five assists in Serie A, along with five goals and two assists in the Champions League.
