Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, says the Federal Government is counting on the agricultural sector to drive Nigeria’s target of becoming a $1 trillion economy.

Bagudu noted that agriculture remains vital for job creation, poverty reduction, and food security, adding that the sector recorded 1.76% growth and contributed 25.59% to the nation’s 3.84% GDP growth in the fourth quarter of 2024.

He said government reforms are boosting investment in mechanisation, infrastructure, climate resilience, and public-private partnerships, aimed at improving productivity and export potential.

“Agriculture is making significant strides under President Tinubu’s watch,” the minister said, stressing that increased funding and access to credit will strengthen rural livelihoods.

Bagudu acknowledged challenges such as insecurity and poor infrastructure but assured that ongoing interventions would sustain growth. He reaffirmed that agriculture remains central to achieving Nigeria’s $1 trillion economic ambition by 2030. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
