President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerian farmers that the Federal Government will make fertilizer available at subsidized rates in the next farming season, according to Senator Abdul’aziz Yari (Zamfara West).
Yari revealed the President’s commitment during a media briefing emphasizing that the initiative aims to strengthen the nation’s food security and support rural livelihoods.
He explained that Tinubu’s assurance follows concerns over the high cost of farm inputs and food items, which have strained both producers and consumers. “The President understands the hardship farmers face and is determined to ensure fertilizer becomes more affordable and accessible next season,” Yari stated.
The senator noted that the administration has already taken steps to address agricultural challenges, citing the launch of the Nigerian Farmers Soil Health Scheme (NFSHS) a program designed to improve soil fertility, optimize fertilizer use through scientific mapping, and enhance crop yields nationwide.
Yari also acknowledged that while food prices had surged sharply in the early months of the administration with a 50-kilogram bag of rice rising from about ₦40,000 to over ₦70,000 there are signs of gradual stability in recent weeks.
He assured farmers and consumers alike that the forthcoming fertilizer subsidy will further stabilize production costs and contribute to lowering food prices across the country. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
