Senate Confirms Chief Idris Ibikunle Olorunnimbe as NCC Board Chairman, Five Others as Commissioners

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Chief Idris Ibikunle Olorunnimbe, representing the South West, as Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Board. The confirmation underscores the federal legislature’s approval of leadership aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s telecommunications sector.

In addition, the Senate also confirmed Senator Ramoni Olalekan Mustafa (South West), Ikechukwu Ugwuegede (South East), and Princess Oforitsenere Emiko (South South) as Commissioners of the NCC Board. Further confirmations include Christopher Sandy Okorie from the South South and Maryam Bayi from the North East as Commissioners, rounding out the composition of the regulatory body.

The newly confirmed board members are expected to oversee the regulation and development of Nigeria’s telecommunications sector, promoting innovation, connectivity, and consumer protection.
