VP Shettima Departs for UN Climate Change Summit in Brazil

Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja ahead of the 30th UN Climate Change Summit scheduled to hold in Brazil. The summit will provide a platform for Nigeria to engage with global leaders on climate action, sustainable development, and environmental resilience.

Nigeria’s participation at the summit is expected to unlock significant financial support for climate initiatives, with estimates ranging between $2.5 billion and $3 billion annually in carbon finance over the next decade. These funds will support the country in achieving its climate goals, including reducing emissions, promoting renewable energy, and enhancing climate adaptation strategies.

The Vice President’s engagement underscores Nigeria’s commitment to global climate agreements and its proactive approach to securing international partnerships and investments that drive sustainable development.
