Nigeria’s security agencies have recorded major operational successes under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, neutralizing more than 13,500 terrorists and armed criminals, arresting over 17,000 suspects, and rescuing about 9,800 kidnapped victims across the country.

According to government sources, the achievements stem from intensified counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations conducted by the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies since the beginning of the Tinubu administration. The coordinated efforts have led to the dismantling of several terrorist camps, interception of logistics networks, and disruption of criminal supply chains.
Officials say the record reflects the Federal Government’s renewed strategy to restore peace and stability across all regions. They also credited the improved synergy between the military, intelligence agencies, and local communities for enabling faster response to security threats and rescue operations.
While the latest cumulative figures highlight significant progress, data from the Defence Headquarters show that in 2024 alone, security forces neutralized over 8,000 terrorists, arrested 11,600 suspects, and rescued nearly 8,000 hostages. The government maintains that its ongoing reforms in defence coordination, community policing, and intelligence gathering will further strengthen national security in the months ahead.
The administration reaffirmed its commitment to consolidating these gains, emphasizing that Nigeria’s security architecture is being modernized to ensure the permanent defeat of terrorism and violent crime.
