The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has formally closed the RHI/HUAWEI Women in Tech Training Programme, which trained 300 women from the six geopolitical zones of the country. The initiative, aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda (RHA) of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aims to promote inclusive growth and digital empowerment, equipping women with practical technological skills to participate meaningfully in the digital economy.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Senator Tinubu emphasized that technology is ever-evolving, and encouraged participants to keep learning, applying their skills to solve real problems in their communities. She noted that the programme would empower female entrepreneurs to scale up their businesses and become champions of digital transformation. “Your biggest strength is your ability to keep learning, evolving, and adapting. True innovation is valuable when it improves lives,” she said. The First Lady also encouraged the participants to mentor young girls and women, ensuring the benefits of digital skills reach more Nigerians.
The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdulahi, described the training as a valuable opportunity that will place women on a winning trajectory in their businesses and careers. He highlighted that ICT is now central to global business and societal growth, and Nigeria cannot afford to lag in the digital revolution. The collaboration with HUAWEI Technologies Company Limited and the Renewed Hope Initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to technology-driven economic diversification and women’s empowerment.
