Super Typhoon Fung-Wong made landfall in Aurora province on Sunday night, bringing sustained winds of 185 km/h (115 mph) and gusts up to 230 km/h (143 mph). Authorities evacuated over 1.4 million people across northern Luzon.

At least eight deaths have been reported, mainly from landslides and flooding. Northern provinces like Nueva Vizcaya and Kalinga were hardest hit, with homes buried, roads blocked, and millions affected by power outages.

The storm is moving north-northeast toward the South China Sea and Taiwan. While weakening is expected, heavy rains continue to threaten flooding and landslides. Relief operations remain underway, focusing on evacuation, restoring infrastructure, and assisting displaced communities.

The Philippines faces back-to-back storms, following Typhoon Kalmaegi, highlighting increasing vulnerability to stronger cyclones fueled by warmer seas. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
