President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the official launch of Nigeria’s first indigenous Methanol and Ammonium Bicarbonate Plant in Ondo State, describing it as a major breakthrough for local chemical and fertilizer production.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, President Tinubu emphasized that the facility represents a significant step toward industrialization, import substitution, and economic diversification. He noted that the plant will reduce dependence on imported fertilizers and chemicals, create jobs, and support local farmers and manufacturers.
The Ondo plant, developed through collaboration between government and private sector partners, is designed to produce high-quality methanol and ammonium bicarbonate for both domestic and regional markets. Officials say the project will strengthen Nigeria’s position in the agricultural and chemical industries while encouraging further investment in the country’s industrial sector.
President Tinubu expressed optimism that such initiatives would enhance self-reliance, technology transfer, and sustainable economic growth across the nation.
Stakeholders at the event highlighted the plant as a model for leveraging local resources and expertise to meet national industrial and agricultural needs.
