Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted a vessel carrying a concealed shipment of cocaine from the Port of Santos in Brazil. The operation, carried out at the Apapa seaport in Lagos, uncovered no less than 20 kilograms of the Class A narcotic buried beneath the vessel’s cargo.
According to the Agency, the discovery was made during a thorough inspection by NDLEA officers. Twenty crew members including the Master and Captain of the ship, all of whom are Filipinos, have been taken into custody as investigations continue.
NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Retd) reaffirmed the Agency’s determination to tighten security at all entry and exit points, particularly the seaports, which criminal networks often attempt to exploit. He emphasized that Nigeria will not relent in its fight against drug trafficking.
