The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confiscated the passport of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, as part of an ongoing investigation into the handling of recovered Abacha loot.

According to security and anti-graft sources, Malami has been asked to account for approximately $400 million linked to the Abacha asset recovery process during his tenure. The EFCC is reportedly scrutinising multiple transactions and decisions taken under his watch, particularly those involving repatriated funds.

Malami is expected to provide detailed explanations to investigators in the coming days as the probe intensifies.
