Vice President JD Vance brought the final day of Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest convention to a close on Sunday, urging conservatives to unite around Christian values and the principles of the “America First” movement.
Earlier in the week, Erika Kirk, widow of the late Charlie Kirk and current Chief Executive Officer of Turning Point USA, publicly endorsed Vance as a potential presidential candidate for the 2028 election. While Vance did not directly address the endorsement during his speech, he expressed appreciation for her support.
Vance opened his remarks by thanking Erika Kirk for her leadership and resilience, praising her strength, grace and encouragement toward the administration and his personal role within it.
The annual gathering began on Thursday and marked the first AmericaFest held without the organisation’s founder, conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated in September. Vance said the most meaningful way to honour Kirk’s legacy was for participants to continue fostering open dialogue and engagement, values he said Kirk championed throughout his life.
According to Vance, Kirk believed every individual present at the convention had a meaningful voice and a reason to be included, adding that the late activist’s commitment to free expression and participation should remain central to the movement moving forward.
