The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has reported a decline in Nigeria’s diesel prices, with the average retail price of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) falling by 2.57% year-on-year. In November 2025, diesel sold for ₦1,409.61 per litre, down from ₦1,446.83 per litre in November 2024.
While the yearly comparison shows a decrease, diesel prices experienced a slight month-on-month increase of 0.79%, rising from ₦1,398.57 in October to ₦1,409.61 in November 2025.
The report highlights continued fluctuations in diesel prices, affecting sectors reliant on the fuel, including transportation, power generation, and industrial activities. The NBS attributes the decline over the year to shifts in global fuel markets and domestic supply adjustments.
Analysts note that the year-on-year decrease is a relief for consumers, though the short-term rise signals potential volatility in the near term.
The NBS continues to monitor fuel prices nationwide, providing insights that help businesses and policymakers navigate the economic impact of fuel price changes. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
