The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has criticised Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for terminating a programme that was set to provide employment for 10,000 youths in the state. Wike described the decision as a setback for youth empowerment and the continuity of government initiatives.

Speaking during a visit to Ahoada East Local Government Area, Wike accused Fubara of taking undue credit for infrastructure projects initiated under his administration, claiming many had already been funded before the handover. He emphasised the importance of sustaining programmes that directly benefit Rivers people.

Wike urged that developmental initiatives, including youth employment schemes and road projects, be continued to support economic growth and improve the welfare of residents. He described the governor’s action as unbecoming and stressed that programmes impacting the lives of the youth and citizens must not be disrupted.
