The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has held separate meetings with the national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, fuelling speculation over possible political realignments.

Sources told JOComms that Governor Yusuf met with Senator Kwankwaso at his Miller Road residence in Kano late Tuesday night. The meeting, which was held behind closed doors, reportedly took place around midnight.

According to the sources, the governor was accompanied by a political intermediary identified as Sarkin Gobir, who is not the Emir of Gobir, and arrived at the residence in a private vehicle.

JOComms further gathered that the meeting was aimed at persuading Senator Kwankwaso to consider joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), following alleged encouragement from President Tinubu.

Barely days after the Kano meeting, Governor Yusuf travelled to France on Friday, where he met with President Tinubu, who is currently on an official trip.

While details of the France meeting were not made public, political observers believe it may be connected to ongoing high-level consultations ahead of potential shifts in the country’s political landscape.

Neither the Kano State Government nor representatives of Senator Kwankwaso have issued official statements on the meetings as of the time of filing this report.
