The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather advisory warning of dust haze and thunderstorms across several regions of Nigeria from Monday through Wednesday.
According to the agency, parts of northern Nigeria, including Kebbi and Kano States, are expected to experience moderate dust haze, reducing horizontal visibility to between 2 and 5 kilometers. The rest of the northern region will see generally sunny and hazy conditions.
In the central region, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Niger State, dust haze and hazy sunshine are forecast, while isolated thunderstorms may occur over Plateau State during afternoons and evenings.
The southern states, such as Bayelsa, Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom, can expect afternoon and evening thunderstorms, accompanied by light rain in some areas.
NiMet has urged motorists to exercise caution due to reduced visibility and slippery roads, while individuals with respiratory conditions are advised to take precautions against dust exposure. The agency also highlighted that the dusty conditions may temporarily disrupt aviation operations in affected areas.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions during this period. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
