Wale Tinubu, Group Chief Executive Officer of Oando Plc, has projected that electric vehicles (EVs) will make up 50 percent of Nigeria’s total vehicle population within the next 20 years.

Tinubu made the prediction on Tuesday during an interview with Arise News TV on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.

Highlighting global trends, he pointed to China’s rapid adoption of electric mobility. “China today, one in two cars being produced are electric, and electric cars are much cheaper to produce,” he said.

Tinubu’s comments reflect growing momentum around clean energy transition and the potential transformation of Nigeria’s transport sector as EV technology becomes more affordable and widespread.
