In continuation of its inaugural meeting, the Protocol Sub-Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2026 National Convention on Tuesday, 24 March 2026, held its second strategic meeting as part of ongoing efforts to ensure a seamless and well-coordinated convention.

The meeting was chaired by the Governor of Cross River State and Chairman of the Committee, His Excellency Bassey Otu, who commended the Secretary, Hadiza Bala Usman, and members of the committee for the significant progress recorded since the inaugural sitting. He noted that the level of dedication and coordination demonstrated reflects the Committee’s readiness to deliver on its mandate at the highest standard.

The Committee reviewed key resolutions from its inaugural meeting and assessed progress made across critical protocol and logistical areas, including accreditation processes, seating arrangements, movement coordination for dignitaries, security interface, and inter-agency collaboration. Members deliberated extensively on frameworks to ensure efficiency, orderliness, and adherence to global best practices in event protocol management.

In attendance were key members of the Committee, including the Honourable Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, and the Honourable Minister of Steel Development, Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, alongside other senior stakeholders, all of whom contributed to discussions aimed at strengthening operational readiness ahead of the Convention.

As part of its activities, the Committee proceeded to Eagle Square, the designated venue for the 2026 National Convention, for an on-site inspection. The exercise was conducted in collaboration with the Chairman of the APC National Convention Planning Committee, Aminu Bello Masari. The inspection focused on evaluating the suitability of the venue in terms of access control, crowd management, VIP movement routes, media positioning, emergency response coordination, and overall spatial planning.

The Committee expressed satisfaction with the progress of arrangements at the venue while identifying areas requiring fine-tuning to ensure optimal functionality on the day of the event. It reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with relevant committees, security agencies, and service providers to deliver a convention that reflects the party’s stature and organizational capacity.

The Protocol Sub-Committee remains resolute in its mandate to ensure a smooth, secure, and befitting 2026 National Convention, building on the strong foundation laid at its inaugural meeting.
