The Federal Government has filed a 13-count charge before a Federal High Court in Abuja against several individuals accused of plotting a coup to overthrow President Bola Tinubu, according to a report by TheCable.

Among those charged are a former Major General, an ex-Navy Captain, a serving police officer, and three other individuals.

They are accused of offences including waging war against the state, treason, and acts of terrorism.

Earlier, security agencies had confirmed the existence of a coup plot in 2025, during which some military officers were arrested, with investigations ongoing.

Meanwhile, families of the detained suspects have called for a public arraignment and a speedy trial, a development that has led to protests in Abuja.

The case is expected to continue in court as proceedings unfold to determine the validity of the allegations.
