Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Pantami, has rejected the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus arrangement for elective positions in Gombe State, describing it as a “coronation” that lacks inclusivity and falls short of democratic expectations.

Pantami, a governorship aspirant in the state, made his position known in a statement issued on Sunday by Professor Suleiman Mohammed on behalf of his supporters and members of the Pantamiyya Movement.

He argued that the process did not reflect broad consultation among stakeholders, warning that it could undermine internal party democracy and fairness in candidate selection.

According to the statement, he stressed that credible democratic processes within political parties must remain transparent, inclusive, and consistent with constitutional and party guidelines.

Pantami reaffirmed his commitment to due process and urged party leaders to ensure equal opportunity for all aspirants in line with democratic norms, noting that internal fairness remains key to strengthening party unity ahead of elections.
