Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday arrived in Akure, Ondo State, to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 100th birthday celebration of elder statesman and Afenifere leader, Chief (Dr.) Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti.

The Vice President was received at the Akure Airport by the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa; the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun; as well as other political leaders and dignitaries from within and outside the state.

Chief Fasoranti, one of the last surviving disciples of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, remained a prominent figure in Nigeria’s political history. He was a member of the defunct Action Group during the First Republic and later served as Commissioner for Finance in the old Ondo State under the Unity Party of Nigeria in the Second Republic.

The visit by Vice President Shettima reflected the Federal Government’s goodwill and recognition of Chief Fasoranti’s contributions to Nigeria’s democratic journey and socio-political development.
