A Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, to 75 years imprisonment over his involvement in a ₦33.8 billion fraud case.
Justice James Omotosho delivered the judgment, finding Mamman guilty on multiple counts of fraud and money laundering filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The court held that the prosecution successfully proved that public funds meant for key power projects were diverted through illegal financial transactions.
The sentence comprises several prison terms on different counts, ordered to run consecutively, resulting in the 75-year jail term.
The court further ordered that the sentence take effect from the date of arrest and directed security agencies to ensure full enforcement of the judgment.
The case is linked to alleged diversion of funds earmarked for major electricity infrastructure projects, including the Mambilla and Zungeru hydropower projects.
