
The member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, has lost his bid for a third term following the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Plateau State.
Results announced by the returning officer, Daspan Ishaya, showed that Dr. John Tongshinen emerged winner of the primary with 29,968 votes, defeating Gagdi, who polled 5,849 votes. Another aspirant, John Pia, secured 51 votes.
According to the breakdown of the results, Tongshinen recorded 13,155 votes in Pankshin Local Government Area, 6,438 votes in Kanke, and 10,375 votes in Kanam. Gagdi scored 1,072 votes in Pankshin, 126 in Kanke, and 4,651 in Kanam.
The primary election outcome is seen as a major political upset in the constituency, where Gagdi had served two terms in the House of Representatives under the APC platform.
