Former Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, has urged the North-West region to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election, saying it is time to repay the South-West for its support of former President Muhammadu Buhari between 2015 and 2023.

Yari made the remarks during a meeting with Islamic clerics in Talata-Mafara, Zamfara State, where he called for prayers for peace and stability ahead of the next election cycle.

According to the senator representing Zamfara West, the alliance between Northern Nigeria and the South-West has remained crucial to electoral success and national unity. He said the South-West stood firmly behind Buhari throughout his presidency and deserved similar support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The former governor also stressed the importance of maintaining Nigeria’s power-sharing arrangement between the North and South, arguing that it remains vital for political balance and stability in the country.

Yari further described the current alliance under the APC as strengthened by shared cultural and religious ties between the North and South-West, adding that President Tinubu should be supported for a second term in office.
