Eleven relatives of suspected Boko Haram fighters have voluntarily surrendered to troops of Operation HADIN KAI in Borno State, as ongoing military operations continue to intensify pressure on insurgent groups in Nigeria’s North-East.

The group, comprising five women and six children, surrendered on June 24 at separate locations in Banki, Bama Local Government Area. According to military sources, four women and four children from Chongolo village turned themselves in to troops of the 152 Task Force Battalion, while another woman and two children from Ladantar village surrendered to the 151 Task Force Battalion at Banki Junction.

Preliminary screening revealed that the individuals are family members of Boko Haram fighters who fled insurgent-controlled areas in search of safety. Following documentation and security profiling, they were transferred to the Bama Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp for further processing and rehabilitation in line with established military procedures.

Military authorities said the latest surrender underscores the continued impact of sustained counter-insurgency operations under Operation HADIN KAI, which have led to increased pressure on terrorist groups and a growing number of defections from insurgent enclaves.

Troops, they added, remain committed to ongoing operations aimed at restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
