Two police officers have been killed in an ambush by suspected bandits in Kaduna State after successfully rescuing nine kidnapped victims during a security operation in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.

According to the Kaduna State Police Command, the joint security team comprising personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, the Police Mobile Force (PMF), and the Kaduna Vigilance Service (KADVIS) acted on credible intelligence that armed bandits had abducted farmers near Unguwan Sa’idu Village.

The operatives engaged the criminals in a fierce gun battle, forcing the attackers to flee into the surrounding bush and abandon their captives. All nine kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed and safely reunited with their families.

However, while returning from the successful rescue mission, the security team came under a surprise ambush by the fleeing bandits. During the exchange of gunfire, two police officers sustained fatal gunshot wounds and later died from their injuries.

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police described the fallen officers as courageous personnel who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty. He extended condolences to their families and assured residents that tactical operations have been intensified to track down and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

The police reaffirmed their commitment to combating banditry and other violent crimes across the state, urging members of the public to continue providing credible information to support ongoing security operations. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
