The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved a two-week extension of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across the country.

The exercise, which commenced on 18 August 2025 and was initially scheduled to end on 10 July 2026, will now continue until 24 July 2026.

According to the commission, the extension was granted in response to requests from eligible Nigerians seeking additional time to register and update their voter information.

INEC stated that the decision is aimed at providing more opportunities for qualified citizens to be captured in the national Register of Voters ahead of future electoral activities.

The commission noted that the extension reflects its commitment to ensuring that every eligible Nigerian has a fair and reasonable chance to participate in the voter registration process.

INEC also encouraged eligible citizens who are yet to register or update their records to take advantage of the additional period before the exercise officially closes.
