Former Governor of Borno State and former National Chairman of the APC, Ali Modu Sheriff, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for policies he said are helping to move the country forward.
Speaking on the state of the nation, Sheriff argued that critics should acknowledge the achievements of the administration before passing judgment on its performance.
He cited the significant increase in allocations to states as evidence of the impact of the Federal Government’s economic reforms, noting that some states now receive as much as ₦55 billion in monthly allocations.
According to him, the current revenue inflows available to states are far higher than what was obtainable during his tenure as governor of Borno State.
Sheriff recalled that throughout his eight years in office as governor, the total allocation received by the state was about ₦150 billion, a figure he contrasted with the current monthly allocations being received by some states.
He maintained that the improved revenue profile of states has provided greater capacity for development projects, infrastructure, and public service delivery across the country.
The former governor urged Nigerians to assess the administration’s performance objectively and recognise reforms that are producing measurable benefits for the federation.
