An Ogun State High Court sitting in Abeokuta has adjourned further hearing in the disputed ownership of a parcel of land between an allottee of the Federal Government and holders of Certificates of Occupancy issued by the Ogun State Government.
The dispute centres on a property located at Quarter 192, Gbadebo Road, Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, with both parties laying claim to ownership through separate government allocations.
During the hearing, the claimant maintained that the property was formerly Federal Government staff quarters and was lawfully acquired through the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
A surveyor who testified before the court said official records indicated that the land belonged to the Federal Government and had been used as federal staff quarters since 1963.
The defendant, however, insisted that the land belonged to the Ogun State Government and argued that the Certificate of Occupancy issued by the state remained valid.
The presiding judge admitted additional documentary evidence and adjourned the matter to October 19 and November 19 for continuation of hearing.
