Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists have abducted the wife of a pastor and her three children in Borno State after intercepting a commercial vehicle along the Maiduguri–Damasak road.

The incident occurred around noon on Saturday near Kareto village in Mobbar Local Government Area. The victims were travelling to Damasak, where the pastor, Moses Guguma, serves as the resident pastor of a COCIN church.

According to community sources, the attackers stopped the vehicle, ordered the pastor’s wife and her three children to disembark, and allowed the other passengers to continue their journey before taking the family into the bush.

A source close to the family said the pastor’s wife had only recently been discharged from a hospital in Maiduguri and was still recovering at the time of the attack.

Another family source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, alleged that the victims were specifically targeted because of their Christian faith.

“As of now, we are holding special prayers for their safe return,” the source said.

The whereabouts of the victims remain unknown. Security agencies have yet to issue an official statement, while no contact or ransom demand has been made by the kidnappers.

Damasak, located in northern Borno, has remained one of the communities frequently affected by Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgent attacks in recent years. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
