Social media personality Okuneye Idris, widely known as Bobrisky, was removed from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight and detained by immigration authorities late Thursday night. The popular cross-dresser alerted followers on Instagram, claiming to have sustained injuries during an altercation with immigration officers and alleging that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was responsible for his detention.

“Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured,” Bobrisky posted, sparking a wave of concern and curiosity among his followers. The circumstances of the arrest remain unclear, but this is the latest development in a series of legal battles for the social media personality.

This incident follows Bobrisky’s attempted departure at the Sème border on October 22, which authorities reportedly intercepted. The controversy surrounding Bobrisky dates back to April 2024, when he received a six-month prison sentence from the Federal High Court in Lagos for naira abuse. Officially, he was incarcerated at Kirikiri Prison, but reports surfaced alleging he had spent only three weeks there before being quietly transferred to a private location, sparking public outrage and accusations of preferential treatment.

Rumors circulated that Bobrisky’s early release and transfer involved a ₦15 million bribe paid to secure improved conditions. Tensions rose further in late September when fellow influencer VeryDarkMan leaked an audio recording allegedly involving Bobrisky, in which he reportedly claimed that music artist Falz and his father, human rights lawyer Femi Falana, sought ₦10 million to obtain a presidential pardon on his behalf.

The Falanas responded swiftly, issuing a cease-and-desist letter on October 16, demanding an immediate retraction and apology. Bobrisky, however, denied the allegations, asserting that he was not responsible for the audio content and advising the Falanas to direct their grievances toward VeryDarkMan instead.
