Nigeria Congratulates Duma Boko as President-Elect of Botswana

The Federal Republic of Nigeria has extended its congratulations to Duma Boko, the President-elect of Botswana, following his party’s victory in the country’s recent general elections. Boko, a prominent lawyer, led the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDP) to success in the polls held in Gaborone.

In an official statement released by Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, spokesperson Amb. Eche Abu-Obe commended Botswana’s outgoing President, Mokgweetsi Masisi, for his grace in accepting the election results and for his commitment to the country’s future. The statement praised Masisi’s fortitude and expressed Nigeria’s respect for his leadership.

The statement further emphasized the close relationship between Nigeria and Botswana, highlighting the bonds of partnership and shared aspirations between the two nations. Nigeria affirmed its support for the government and people of Botswana as they embark on this new chapter under Boko’s leadership.

As Botswana transitions under its new administration, Nigeria remains hopeful about continued collaboration and unity with its southern African ally.
