Governors from across Nigeria gathered at the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) secretariat in Abuja on Thursday to deliberate on important national and economic issues.
Although the meeting was scheduled to begin at 8 a.m., proceedings were delayed as only a few governors arrived on time. Those present included Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), and Usman Ododo (Kogi).
According to the agenda shared with journalists, the governors are set to discuss issues such as stamp duty, reconciliation of royalties accounts, and updates on the Africa Investment Forum (AIF). The forum will also include a presentation by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, on progress in the constitutional amendment process led by the National Assembly.
The meeting underscores the NGF’s dedication to tackling key fiscal and governance challenges, with governors expected to collaborate on strategies to address these issues effectively. Updates on the outcomes of the discussions are awaited as the session progresses.
