President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria following his participation in the 19th G20 Leaders’ Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The President, accompanied by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Saturday evening.

The presidential jet departed Galeão Air Force Base in Rio de Janeiro earlier on Saturday morning, concluding the President’s six-day trip. Tinubu had left Nigeria on November 17 to attend the summit held from November 18 to 19 at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

During the summit, President Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to the newly launched Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, an initiative spearheaded by the Brazilian presidency of the G20. The alliance aims to address global food insecurity and poverty, aligning with Nigeria’s broader goals of economic growth and social welfare.

The President also engaged in bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit, fostering strategic partnerships to bolster Nigeria’s development agenda. Notably, a letter of intent was signed with three Brazilian companies to enhance Nigeria’s livestock sector, a move anticipated to strengthen the country’s agricultural productivity and economic diversification efforts.

President Tinubu’s participation in the summit underscores Nigeria’s growing engagement in international economic and development initiatives. This marks another step in the administration’s efforts to position Nigeria as a significant player on the global stage.

The President was welcomed back to Abuja with a warm reception, reflecting the nation’s anticipation of the outcomes of his international engagements.
