Nigeria Issues Travel Alert for UK Amid Riots

Share

The Federal Republic of Nigeria has issued a travel alert for citizens planning to visit the United Kingdom due to increased violence and disorder following recent riots. The unrest began after the tragic killing of three young girls at a concert and has escalated, resulting in attacks on law enforcement and damage to infrastructure.

In response, Nigerian citizens are advised to exercise heightened caution. Key recommendations include avoiding political processions, protests, rallies, and crowded areas. Travelers should remain vigilant and self-aware at all times.

Recent demonstrations, driven by far-right and other extra-parliamentary groups, have been marked by aggression and anti-immigration sentiments, particularly targeting Muslim immigrants and people of color. The situation remains fluid, and the advisory will be updated as needed.

For any concerns or information, citizens are encouraged to contact the Nigerian High Commission via email at hc@nigeriahc.org.uk or by phone at +44 207 839 1244.
