Tinubu Appoints Shamseldeen Ogunjimi as Acting Accountant General of the Federation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Mr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the Acting Accountant General of the Federation (AGF). The appointment takes effect immediately, following the pre-retirement leave of the incumbent AGF, Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, who will officially retire on March 7, 2025.

A seasoned civil servant with over 30 years of experience in financial management, Mr. Ogunjimi has served in key roles, including Director of Funds at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) and Director of Finance and Accounts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mr. Ogunjimi holds several professional credentials, including chartered accountant, certified fraud examiner, chartered stockbroker, and chartered security and investment specialist. His academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and a Master’s degree in Finance and Accounting.

President Tinubu commended the outgoing AGF for her dedicated service and expressed confidence in Mr. Ogunjimi’s ability to advance Nigeria’s treasury policy reforms, describing the OAGF as “pivotal to our nation’s treasury management operations.”

The appointment underscores the administration’s commitment to ensuring a seamless transition and effective management of Nigeria’s treasury system.
