Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently chairing the 147th meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC).

The meeting is taking place at the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja, with attendance from governors, some deputy governors, ministers, agency heads, and presidential aides from across the 36 states.

During the previous 146th meeting, held over three weeks ago, NEC gave a one-week deadline to three states and the FCT to submit their reports on the establishment of state police. The council also expressed concerns about the new Tax Reform Bills, urging President Bola Tinubu to withdraw them for broader consultations.

The 147th meeting is expected to review the reports on state police and take a stance on the issue.
