The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has dismissed recent media reports alleging the shutdown of the Old Port Harcourt Refinery, which was re-streamed two months ago.

In a statement issued by Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., the company described the claims as “totally false,” emphasizing that the refinery remains fully operational.

“Former Group Managing Directors of NNPC verified the refinery’s functionality just a few days ago, and preparations for the day’s loading operations are currently ongoing,” the statement read.

The company urged members of the public to disregard the reports, labeling them as baseless and designed to cause unnecessary panic and create artificial fuel scarcity.

NNPC reiterated its commitment to ensuring the steady supply of petroleum products and safeguarding the interests of Nigerians against exploitative practices.
