The All Progressives Congress (APC) screening committee has reportedly disqualified 56 aspirants linked to Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, ahead of the party’s House of Assembly primary elections, while clearing 33 others to contest.
According to the screening outcome, the affected aspirants were dropped over alleged issues relating to eligibility, documentation gaps, and compliance with party guidelines, while those cleared were deemed to have met all requirements for participation in the primary process.
The development has triggered political tension within the Rivers APC structure, as stakeholders await further directives from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on the next steps, including possible appeals and final ratification of the screening report.
The cleared aspirants are expected to proceed to the party primaries scheduled to produce candidates for the upcoming Rivers State House of Assembly elections.
Further updates are expected as the APC leadership reviews the committee’s report and addresses appeals from disqualified aspirants.
