A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has stated that there is no certainty that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will defeat Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi at the party primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Momodu made the remark while speaking on political realignments and emerging dynamics within Nigeria’s opposition landscape, noting that the outcome of party primaries cannot be predicted in advance.

He explained that political contests are often influenced by evolving alliances, delegate decisions, and shifting public sentiment, adding that no aspirant can be considered guaranteed victory at this stage.

According to him, both Atiku and Obi remain strong political figures with significant support bases, making any early conclusion about primary outcomes speculative.

Momodu urged political actors and supporters to focus on strengthening democratic engagement and allowing internal party processes to determine eventual candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
