The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has dismissed reports claiming it has withdrawn from the Ekiti State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026, describing the claim as false and misleading.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Araba Rufus Ayenigba, the SDP said it has not pulled out of the race and remains fully committed to participating in the poll, with its governorship candidate, Isaac Alade, still in the contest.
The party urged the public to disregard what it called a “fabricated story” being circulated ahead of the election, insisting that no formal withdrawal notice was submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The SDP also accused political opponents of spreading misinformation to create confusion and influence public perception ahead of the election.
It further reaffirmed its active participation in the electoral process and called on its supporters to remain calm and focused as preparations continue for the governorship poll. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
