FG, Russia Deepen Economic Partnership Through High-Level Bilateral Talks

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening economic and diplomatic ties with the Russian Federation following a high-level bilateral meeting in Abuja between Nigerian officials and the Russian Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E. Andrey Leonidovich Podelyshev.

The meeting was hosted by the Honourable Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, alongside the Honourable Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Doris Anite-Uzoka, as both countries explored areas of deeper economic collaboration.

Discussions during the engagement focused on infrastructure development, investment cooperation and broader strategies aimed at promoting sustainable economic growth between Nigeria and Russia. Officials at the meeting stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral and multilateral partnerships to support Nigeria’s ambition of building an inclusive and sustainable $1 trillion economy.

The Nigerian delegation also highlighted the need to close execution gaps in critical development projects through enhanced international cooperation, improved financing mechanisms and stronger implementation frameworks.

Both Nigeria and the Russian Federation expressed optimism about expanding economic opportunities and deepening diplomatic relations for mutual benefit, while the Federal Government reiterated its commitment to policies and partnerships that will attract investment, improve project delivery and drive long-term national economic transformation.
