Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress governorship primaries scheduled for Thursday.

In a personally signed statement titled “My decision to withdraw from the Rivers State Gubernatorial Primaries,” released on Wednesday night, the governor confirmed his decision to step down from the contest.

Fubara stated that his withdrawal was in the interest of party unity and pledged to fully support whoever emerges as the party’s candidate from the primaries.

He also emphasized the need for cohesion within the party ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Rivers State.

The development is expected to influence political alignments and strategy within the party ahead of the primaries.
