Thousands of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) trooped out across the country on Saturday as the ruling party affirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The nationwide presidential primary exercise witnessed massive participation from party supporters, stakeholders and leaders in several states, with many describing the turnout as a strong show of confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and the APC administration.

President Tinubu, who voted at Ward L2, Ireti Primary School, Ikoyi, Lagos, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise, describing it as a demonstration of internal democracy and grassroots participation within the party.

Across states including Katsina, Kaduna and Osun, APC leaders commended party members for the peaceful and enthusiastic participation recorded during the direct primary election. Governors and party officials also expressed confidence that the massive turnout reflected growing support for the APC ahead of the 2027 polls.

In Katsina State, Governor Dikko Radda said the turnout showed the strength of democracy and Nigerians’ confidence in the APC-led administration, adding that the party was well-positioned for victory in the next general elections.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu is expected to officially receive the APC certificate of return and the party’s flag as its presidential candidate during a presentation ceremony scheduled to hold in Abuja on Sunday.
